Fiona Macintyre

Fiona Macintyre has been making jewellery and hollowware for over 15 years. She is a graduate of the Material Art and Design program at the Ontario College of Art and Design. Here she found her passion of working in precious metals, lured by the magical transformation of a hard material into softened fluid forms and shapes.

Fiona Macintyre’s studio practice over the years has

ranged from making production jewellery for sale in

shops and galleries, creating one of a kind exhibition

pieces and collaborating on tailor made custom designs.

In her contemporary sculptural jewellery and hollowware,

she honours the traditional techniques of silversmithing; hammering, forging, raising and casting.

After many years spent in Toronto as an exhibiting silversmith, jewellery designer

and teacher of Visual Art, Fiona Macintyre proudly joins the artistic community in Merrickville.

“I find inspiration everywhere in my visual surroundings whether they are rural

or urban, past or present, as in a decorative detail from the Art Nouveau period

or the linear qualities of Modern architecture. Being able to create wearable

objects that may be cherished by the wearer, hold sentiment and personal

meaning is an honour and privilege to me.”
