JJ's Classy Glass
I am a lampwork artist who creates glass beads. My
miniature and wearable works of art are formed by
melting and sculpting hot glass, an ancient art form
known as lampwork. Centuries ago glass was heated
and worked in the flame of an oil lamp. Today modern
lampwork artists use torches that combine fuel and
oxygen in order to melt the glass with a much hotter
and more controllable flame.
All of my beads are annealed (baked) in a digitally controlled kiln for several hours to ensure strength and durability. I also design and make unique pieces of jewellery using my own handmade beads along with Swarovski crystals, fire-polished Czech glass and semi-precious stones from around the world, just to name a few.
I live in the Ottawa area and am thrilled to be able to create my designs in my country studio. A day doesn’t go by without me being inspired by nature’s beautiful palette. I am constantly aware of colour combinations and patterns, and how I
might translate these captivating visuals into my beads and jewellery.
It is my passion and absolute pleasure to produce original, colourful and intricate pieces of 'classy glass' that beg to be looked at, touched, worn and treasured by people who appreciate giving or owning something a little different.
