In my work with pottery, I attempt to describe, interpret and

invent many aspects of my life experience.  I use literature,

history, the prairie landscape, the family, women, fiction and

fantasy in my creation of both functional and sculptural objects.

I enjoy the narrative possibilities that pottery can realize. I grew

up in Manitoba, Canada where the prairie landscape made a

broad and linear impact on me.  I studied English Literature and

History at the University of Winnipeg and then took two MA

programs at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario. The first in

English Literature, and the second, in Canadian Studies where

I focused on Canadian Art History and Women's Studies. Currently, I live with my family in Ottawa and work in a modest studio in my home.

The pieces that are available at The Grotto are part of my Relics Series. This is

a low-fire, hand-built series designed to celebrate the ancient beauty and spirit of the earth during spring. This series showcases strictly functional pieces: plates

and vases, teapots and serving vessels use text and image along with the gentle greens, yellows and blues of multiple glazes to embrace the light of spring and remind us to surround ourselves with beauty in every aspect of our lives.
